Membee’s online events module is being well received by members. It makes it easy for members to register and pay for your events themselves from your web site. But, it has become abundantly clear that a tremendous amount of event registration work is still done by the staff inside your organization. While Membee provides an “advanced” event registration process for staff to use which provides access to event registration features like custom attendee fields and the like, a closer look clearly demonstrated that a faster, more streamlined process for staff to use when completing member event registrations was clearly needed!


Before we get into the details, a quick but giant “Thanks” to all of the Membee users who tolerated all of our questions, took time out their day to read our documents, and provided feedback on the new Event Sale form for the benefit of all users. Thanks again!


So, when you get into work on Monday morning (Nov. 9), a new link will be available on the Events page (Manage – Events – New Sale – Quick Sale) that will open the new Event Sale form. This link provides the fastest access to the new form.

We just wanted to take a moment here and point some of the key new capabilities and some new capabilities that are being used for the first time:


Complete the Entire Event Sale Without Touching the Mouse!


We have introduced some new capabilities into this form that reduces the need for time-consuming moves from your keyboard to your mouse to click and access a pop-up to search or make a selection. The “Tab” key is your new ally!


New “type ahead” capabilities makes easy to complete the form in seconds. See the example below.

Send the Event Sale Receipt Email to the Member Automatically!


Just complete the sale and let Membee update the member. When you process the sale using the new form, the member receives a copy of the Event Confirmation email (you can modify this email in Membee’s Admin area) which includes a complete purchase summary as well as any payment and balance owing information.

Select the Quantity & The Item You Wish to Sell and Let Membee Setup to Track Attendees!


Set the quantity and select an item to sell and let Membee setup fields for the attendees on the fly! For example, setting a quantity of “3” for a  “Single ticket” item tells Membee to create 3 Attendee spots. Similarly, setting a quantity of “2” for a “Table of 8” item would tell Membee to create 16 Attendee spots. To save you steps, Membee inserts the Billing Contact as the first attendee (you can edit this if needed) since the vast majority of the time, the person buying is also attending the event.

Got the Member’s Payment in Hand? Process it Quickly as a Part of the Event Sale


If you have payment in hand for the event sale, Membee will create the sale, post an invoice for the sale, and apply the payment you have to that invoice all automatically for you when you hit the “Process” link.

Event Sales Settings Save Steps When Processing a Batch of Event Sales


Often the event sales scenario involves the processing of a batch of event sales for a specific event. Sometimes following the event to process walk-ins or prior to a large popular event as registrations and payments roll in. The Event Sales Settings panel at the bottom of the form allows you to change certain default settings for the form to save you clicks and keystrokes on each event sale as you process a stack of event sales. You can change:

  • Whether the first attendee is defaulted to the person selected as the Billing Contact
  • Whether the email receipt is sent when the sale is processed
  • Whether the form fills in the Item field based on the item you selected in the previous sale
  • Whether Membee posts an invoice for the sale, even if a payment is not in hand

    It would be helpful to sell more than one item in this screen. Our events usually have several items for purchase.

    If you are entering a quantity of more than 1 attendee and the employee for the company is not in membee yet, there is no way to add a new employee.

    As mentioned in previous posting, it would be helpful to have the ability to add a new contact for an orgranization when adding multiple attendees.

    I really enjoy the type-ahead search. Too bad it’s not available in more areas like the event item. Also in other areas of Membee would be helpful, too.
