We have received a wonderful response to the upcoming enhancement to your online directory - everyone is very excited! Today we are continuing our series to give you a "sneak peek" at some of the fantastic things you will be able to do.
As you read last week, we have been very fortunate to have the chance to work with a great group of your fellow users who have been able to volunteer some of their precious time. They are not only taking a look through the directory, but allowing us to feature their sites and members here so you can see some of the great things you can look forward to. So without further ado, let me introduce you to our second volunteer.
Our Second Volunteer
The BC Association of Clinical Counsellors is a society of regulated Clinical Counsellors dedicated to providing the highest standard of professional counselling, consulting, assessment, testing and training services. Members of the society act to enhance mental health by providing responsive, accountable, and ethical counselling, consulting, assessment, testing, and training services to individuals, couples, families and groups.

The New Directory is Highly Customizable
Everyone has a different website, each with a different look and feel, but all have the same goal - to give your members (and visitors) a truly rich experience. Your website should be THE place for your members to visit to find information and connect with other members. Each module in Membee has been designed to help you enrich the experience for your members and one of the ways you can do this is by customizing your directory to match the look of your site.
This allows you to take something like this (which is the default set up for the directory including things such as fonts and colors):
And with a few minor adjustments turn it into this:
How do you do it?
We made a few simple changes and this changed the look of the directory completely. It now looks like it was designed specifically for the BC Association Clinical Counsellors – it looks like it belongs.
This is all controlled by something commonly referred to as CSS. CSS is the abbreviation for Cascading Style Sheets and this is what controls what your web pages look like. The new directory has been developed to give you access to as many aspects of the page as possible to enable you to be able to make the same kinds of changes I have shown you above.
In this case, to get the look of the directory to match the site we simply made changes to the color of the font, the color of the border around the search box, made the search box transparent so the background could show through and set the font type to match the font on the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors' site.
Where can I learn more and what's next?
When we are ready to officially launch the directory you will find a list of new help topics included in the announcement as well as links to these topics right from within your listings in Membee. These will contain all the information that you need to launch the new directory for your association.
