These days everyone has a Facebook page but if you want to keep your members engaged, you need to give them reasons to visit and stay on that page. One way to do this is to use your Facebook page as another avenue to market your events. This gives your members one more reason to visit your page and helps you to generate more event revenue.
Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association – Facebook App
Membee subscriber, the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association, represents the residential construction industry in the Greater Vancouver Area in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We spoke to Renée Auer, Director of Membership & Sales to get her perspective on using the Membee Events feed as a Facebook App on their Facebook page.
What influenced your decision – why use the event feed?
| “Any organization that wants to be top of mind needs to make a point of being visible wherever possible” |
Did you notice an increase in event registrations after you launched the Membee/Facebook Event App?
I don't have hard statistics yet that could answer that question but, it clearly works. From the response we have gotten to our consumer events, I would say that it has been a definite help and a bonus.
What was the response from your members?
“Particularly with our | Particularly with our younger audience, it is a hit. We've had people show up for our member orientations saying they found the information on Facebook. |
Do you have any advice for other organizations looking at adding the Event Feed App to Facebook?
Just to be ready because, if an event is hot, they will be flooded with registrations. Sometimes people just show up at the event without bothering to register so you need to have a plan for that.
The only negative is that we have both consumer and industry events and there is no way to separate those so you need to be very specific with the descriptions for your events.
(Editor’s Note: Greater Vancouver Home Builder's Association could handle this situation by having two Event Feed Apps on their Facebook page – one for Upcoming Consumer Events and one for Upcoming Industry Events.)

Be an “App Developer” in Facebook – No Coding Required
You can be a Facebook “Developer” without even knowing how to code - just use the Membee Event Feed widget and follow the simple instructions provided in the How do I promote my events using Membee’s Event Feed on my Website and Facebook page article.
By using the Event Feed, you free up staff time. Events are posted on your Facebook page automatically and staff don’t need to take any extra step to add them.
Stay Tuned for More
In the coming months we will be releasing a few different types of feeds that you will be able to use with your Facebook page. Watch the Membee Release Notes and this blog for announcements.
