On April 26 – 27, 2012 the Ontario Membee User’s Group met in Guelph, Ontario to share best practice ideas, to learn more about Membee, to provide user feedback and ideas and perhaps even to have a little fun!

This user group meets twice a year in the spring and fall in an effort to share their experiences peer to peer.  Members of the group represent diverse associations including chambers of commerce, professional associations, and trade associations.  While the organizations are diverse they share common concerns and challenges.

This spring the meeting’s focus was on identifying and sharing common business challenges and brainstorming solutions with other members of the group. User “experts” Kathryn Newell of  the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Anne Stewart of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, and Sharleen Sissons of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce presented best practice information on Financial Processes, General Membership Processes, and Launching Online Modules to the group and their presentations generated interesting discussions.

Membee staff presented how-to sessions on the New Member Profile and the newly released E-billing widget.  The group was also given a recap of recent changes and a sneak peek at some new enhancements that are still in development.  Ideas for enhancements and user feedback was gathered to inform the development team at Membee.

These networking sessions are really useful for both long time Membee users and Newbees alike.  We spoke to Brenda Gregory of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade to get her perspective as a first time attendee.  She said,

This meeting was very helpful.  I had used the old IRM system in the past but have just started using Membee and it was a good opportunity to go over processes in the new system and to see how it has changed for the better.  The ability to consult with my counterparts in other organizations was one of the main benefits.  Going to the meeting allowed me to meet this group who act as a resource for each other.  It was good to see what new features are coming and to have an opportunity to share with my colleagues.”

Ana Daily of the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce is a regular attendee of the User Group meetings.  We asked what she thought about the meetings and she told us,

"I find the Membee User Group most informative and it makes for a very enjoyable experience.  I learn great tips from other Chamber users which I integrate into my own daily  Membee work.  Anita’s instruction is extremely helpful and the interplay she has with the group really makes Membee work better for all users."

The Ontario users also keep in touch throughout the year with a Facebook group where they ask each other for help with specific topics and where they share best practices and news. This is a great group and if you are in Ontario and are interested in participating please contact Wendy Brousseau at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce to have your name added to their mailing list.
