To make it easier for your members to donate to your organization’s scholarship fund or to collect funds for your Political Action Committee, Membee events will soon accept registrations for variable amount items. This means that you can accept donations of amounts determined by your members at the time they are making their contributions online.
We saw a great example of how you can handle collection of donations on your website. The New York Health Information Management Association (otherwise known as NYHIMA) set up a page on their website called “Donate” where they plan to enter information about the various funds that they administer, including some funds used to create scholarships.
On the Donate page they have very effectively used an Event Feed pulling out any event with a category of “Donation”.
They have posted this event feed in the sidebar of their page.
Members simply have to click on the name of the fund they want to support to be taken into the fund’s event page where they can choose the amount they wish to contribute.
NYHIMA has created separate events for each of their scholarship funds and has created multiple items which are based on the typical amounts donated by their members for these funds.
Once the new events upgrade is released they can add an additional item that will allow their members to choose their own contribution amounts or, they can simply replace all of those different donation level items with a single “Donate” item.
As part of the first wave of enhancements to the Events Module the ability to accept variable amounts will help to make collection of donations quick and easy.
Watch upcoming blogs for more highlights of the Events upgrade.
