Did you know that you can use Membee’s Event Feed, Directory Special Offers, Sponsored Listing, and Featured Listing  Feeds or the New Member Feed on Facebook to save you time and create referrals for your members? The feeds instantly and automatically update lists on Facebook when you make changes in Membee and they are really easy to set up.

What is a Feed?

It is a list pulled from your Membee data to display online.  For example, an Events Feed builds a list of your upcoming events that is always up to date without you having to maintain the list.  You simply enter your events as you normally would in Membee.  Add some criteria for the list into a Membee widget.  The widget generates some URLs that you enter into Facebook.  Like magic your Event Feed shows up on your Facebook page!

We recently enhanced all of the feeds (Events, Special Offer, Sponsored Listings, Featured Listings & New Members) by adding a new "Facebook" feed option. This enhancement means that it is very easy for you to set up a feed to use on your Facebook page.

Using The Feeds

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce makes great use of Membee Feeds on their Facebook Page.

Sudbury Facebook Feed

They have created Facebook apps for the Events Feed, the New Member Feed and the Directory Special Offer Feed.

The Event Feed

Create a list that uses Membee’s Event Feed to highlight upcoming events on your Facebook page without having to enter the information twice.  Simply by adding your events into Membee the details show up as clickable links on your Facebook Page encouraging more of your Members to register.  It is one more way to make sure that the information is available. To see how to create an Events Facebook App using a Membee feed click here. (You will need your username and password to access the article.)

Facebook apps for the other feeds are created in the same way.

The New Member Feed

It is easy to showcase new members of your organization on your Facebook page.  This feed is a list of your new members that match criteria that you enter into the New Member Feed widget control.  If your new members have a listing in an online directory, their name becomes a a link to their listing.  Another great way to produce referrals for your newest members.

Special Offers

Another way to generate referrals for your members is to create a list that uses the Membee Special Offer Feed.  sudbury special offerFacebook users simply click on the Special Offer icon on your Facebook page.

They are taken to a list of special offers that is pulledsudbury special list
right from your online member directory.

Clicking on the name of one of the businesses in the list will take the user right into the full listing in the online directory on your website.

Clicking on the More link at the bottom of the list in Facebook will display a list of all the members who offer special discounts by category.

Sponsored and Featured Listings

Sponsored and Featured Listings are the Membee Directory’s Online Directory Promotion Options

Sponsored Keywords cause a listing to be displayed at the top of the page as a sponsored listing when a keyword is entered by the visitor to your site.  The Featured Listing setting causes a listing to stand out by placing an image and the words "Featured Listing" when a listing is returned in search results.

You can use the Sponsored Listing and Featured Listing Feeds in the same way that you would use a Special Offer Feed on Facebook.

Once the lists are set up, Facebook users simply click on an icon that takes them to a listing of Featured or Sponsored Listings.  Clicking either on one of the names or on the More link takes the user directly to your online directory on your website and displays the full list.

How To Set Up the Feeds

You can find out all the information on how to get this done by going to these help articles (you will need to have your username and password handy):

Remember, you can also use feeds on any page on your website or you can create an RSS version too.  All of the feeds can be formatted to match your site or Facebook page using CSS Styles.
