Today’s blog again features an idea from one of our new clients, the Rocky Mountain Bead Society (RMBS).  We’re so impressed!  Not only did these busy bees have all of their events on their site within 7 days of launching Membee, they also came up with a great idea to help their members more easily find and register for those events.

RMBS is a social, education and industry group to help people interested in bead study and beading techniques. We spoke to Laurel Mueller, President of Rocky Mountain Bead Society to find out how things were going for them.

She said, “Setting up the site went really smoothly . We have had lots of compliments on the website and we have noticed an increase in the number of visits to the site. The categories have really helped people explore and has helped to promote the events and we are seeing earlier registrations.

It also helps our members see us in a more positive light because they are seeing us as a more organized and professional organization.

Our members are an older demographic and when it takes them less time to find what they want it keeps them on the page because it is more intuitive.”

On their “Classes” page RMBS has done the search work for their members. All of their 2013 events were entered and classified into categories.  Then very visual menu buttons for each search category were placed on the page. This helps their members easily find and decide which class to attend by simply clicking on a button that takes them to the category list.   Click here to see their Bazaar Classes Page and give it a try yourself.

How did they do it?

Using Membee’s events module:

  • They added each event for 2013
  • The event was classified by day, instructor, class level and medium.  (on the Event Details > Categorization panel)
  • They then used the View by Category search link in the Membee Events Calendar to get a result for each of the categories.
  • Once they got the result they wanted they copied the URL in the menu bar
  • The URL was used to create a navigation button on their site to go directly to the search result (See the example in the image below for the Beginner category)

Thanks Rocky Mountain Bead Society for the great idea and Welcome to the Hive!
