When member events are a major member benefit and important source of revenue for Membee client organizations, making the key ones stand out is important. While running more events is clearly the trend, a calendar jam-packed with your events can actually make it harder for someone to find the event(s) they are looking for.

Emphasizing Certain Types of Events on Your Website

Not to worry as Membee’s Event Feed feature comes to the rescue! Quickly, the concept here is that Membee makes it easy to add a list of important events to prominent positions on your website or Facebook page. This makes it easier for event purchasers to access all educational events, all networking events, or all events coming up in city as examples.

Admin_Events_Feed_03Like all of Membee’s widgets, it's a simple process to configure the Event Feed in Membee and then add the script Membee generates to your website. For example, we’ve decided that out of the dozens of events we present each year, a series of webinars we are holding this fall are the events we want to stand out from the pack. We want these webinars visible to all visitors to our website so we’re going to add an Event Feed to the sidebar on our site that displays only our webinars.

In a few minutes and by accomplishing a couple of easy steps, we’ve got our webinars standing out on all of the pages on our website.

Making Your Events Accessible From Your Facebook Page

Admin_FB_Feed_02But wait! We’re not done yet! We also want our social media savvy members to be able access our events from our Facebook page. The process is basically the same except Membee provides a special page to configure the Facebook Event Feed to meet Facebook’s data and security requirements.

Next, you create a Page Tab on your Facebook page to add the Membee feed to. Instead of showing you a mockup of this feature, we’ve got the real deal. For a while now, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce has been using this to turn their organization’s Facebook page into an access point for their events.

Of course, a click on an event from a Facebook page takes the purchaser to the Events widget and the event’s registration page on Aurora’s website.

A Couple of Best Practices

Bots are Your Friends

Really, when you get right down to it, Membee provides an effective method for event purchasers to get to your event by clicking a link. Simple. Guess what else likes links? You guessed it, those link seeking, data hungry search bots that index all of the Internet’s wonderfulness so things can be found in Google Search and Bing. Membee does its part to make these links very search bot-friendly but take a minute or two to make your events even easier to find by choosing SEO-friendly terms in the description for your events.

“One” Isn’t Necessarily a Lonely Number

Who says a Membee Event Feed has to list a bunch of events? Got the major event your world revolves around? You can easily setup an Event Feed to only include that one event so it gets all the attention it deserves on either your website, your Facebook page, or both.

Change Things Up a Bit

Since Membee’s Event Feeds are easy to configure, don’t be afraid to change things up. Promote webinars one month, networking events the next, the “big one” the next, etc. There’s a really good chance members don’t know all of the events and opportunities you offer so highlight some!

Let’s Get Started!

As always, we’ve got detailed steps and movies to help you put this feature to work right now. Have your Membee username and password handy and follow the link below:
