Expectations are shifting and online donation opportunities are increasing each year, especially donations made on a mobile device. It’s no shock that the most convenient tool we hold in our hands is an increasing source of giving. According to the Blackbaud Institute, 26% of online donations were made using a mobile device in 2019, compared to 2014 when it was 9% of online donations.
It would be prudent to meet these expectations and provide a convenient method for donors to give directly from your website. With Membee, you can reach non-members, new members, and renewing members exactly where they are.
Offer Donation Opportunities to Non-Members
Your website is the focal point for non-members to learn more about your organization before they become a member.
The goal is to make it easy for non-members to donate to your organization – they shouldn’t be searching your site to find how they can donate. You can do this by:
- Adding the donation option to your menu choices
- Adding a donation button on your home page
- Adding a link to your donation page in your page footer
As you can see below, the “Donate” button is emphasized on the menu. When a non-member clicks this donation button, they are redirected to your donation page, which is Membee’s widget, where they can choose where their donation funds.
Extend a Donation Option When a New Member Joins
The easier it is to donate, the more likely you will receive donations. With Membee’s new member sign up form, you can extend a donation option to the new member as they complete their registration.
Below, you can see a new bronze member has a voluntary donation of $20 towards the Building Fund.
Accept Donations During Membership Renewal
When members renew, you have an existing relationship with them and their continued loyalty. By extending the opportunity to donate during renewal, you’ll be able to reach existing members who are looking to donate or even reach members who didn’t know there were donation options available!
